Traditionally, Blackhills Camp has been a rustic camp. While the Spirit of God has not been hindered by the rustic facilities, we feel that it’s time to both modernize existing facilities and build some new facilities which will allow for increased usage of camp facilities. These projects will allow many more people to take advantage of the unique setting and opportunities afforded by Blackhills Camp.

The mission of the Free Methodist Church is to make known to all people everywhere God's call to wholeness through forgiveness and holiness in Jesus Christ, and to invite into membership and to equip for ministry all who respond in faith.

The Blackhills facilities and environment exists to enable individuals and groups to come away, meet God, and be equipped to serve as His disciples in all walks of life. In a camp setting, people can get away from the normal distractions and routines and focus more clearly on God's purpose for them, community life can be experienced. Values and disciplines cannot only be taught, but modeled.
